Introduction

Mobile promotions is a very individual business. Off-the-shelf, Procescom PromoBox solution leverages traditional promotional channels. PromoBox is a fully integrated and proven system that gives mobile operators the ability to drive additional premium service revenues from its existing end users’ base. It increases revenue base by improving marketing campaign objectives. Operators can now identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities and launch targeted or personalised usage-stimulating campaigns.

PromoBox helps operators to improve brand awareness and the end users’ loyalty. It drives traffic and controls delivery through end users’ feedback.

Procescom PromoBox Overview

Procescom PromoBox solution incorporates complete suite of backend management system that includes co-branding, hosting, user management, delivery and fulfillment. The flexibility offered by the PromoBox allows operators to design and launch highly targeted campaigns by leveraging the usage data warehouse and combining it with subscriber profile information. The solution gives the operator the ability to target the smallest niche group or even a single individual.

PromoBox contains a user database to store all the subscribers in the network. The subscriber repository is populating from the input files defined by PromoBox administrators. As an option the subscriber identities in the user database may be pre-provisioned from customer administration systems. The user database stores user profiles and keeps track of the current and history of five previous promotions used by the end user.

Procescom PromoBox solution architecture is depicted in the figure on the right.

Connection adaptors towards operator’s systems like charging, provisioning or SMSC are available for most common protocols. PromoBox ecosystem follows the following outlines:

  • Charging System - PromoBox uses HTTP as default interface to a real-time charging system. Since the PromoBox architecture is very modular, other protocols like diameter are supported as plug-ins.
  • SMSC – The integration is done using the SMPP v3.4 protocol.
  • Postpaid System - The integration is done using FTP retrieval of CDR files or HTTP.
  • Provisioning system – PromoBox defines a web service interface SOAP over HTTP for provisioning purpose.
  • External promotion gateway – web service defined
  • USSD gateway – proprietary interface

PromoBox GUI

The PromoBox GUI is accessed through a web browser. The PromoBox GUI is started from the Login page. Only authorized users are able to use the PromoBox GUI. There are different roles with an authorization set on the whole of or on a limited set of actions in the PromoBox system. A demo GUI can be found here. If you are interested in trying it out, send us an e-mail and we will reply with a username and password.

The first thing you have to do is to create a promotion. Here is a video on how this is done: Creating a promotion
This video does not go into the details of every parameter as this is not important for the demonstration. Furthermore, the parameters can be tailored to each client's needs.

Next, we need to set which users will be allowed to buy this promotion. This has no effect on our web demo, but it will be shown in our next video demonstration:
Adding users

Once the users have been added to the database and the promotion is active, the users can buy this promotion through a number of channels. One of these, is the USSD menu. The demo of the ussd menu can be found here, and there is also a video explanation: Buying a promotion

The GUI offers a number of other functionalities, some of which can be seen in this video: GUI options
It must also be noted that any other option can be added on client request.
